Southern Sydney Freight Line Upgrade & Station Refurbishment

Southern Sydney Freight Line Upgrade & Station Refurbishment

Barnwell Cambridge was contracted on a construct only basis for the electrical upgrades to Sefton, Cabramatta, Warwick Farm, Casula, Minto, Leumeah, and Campbelltown Railway Station to facilitate the construction of the Southern Sydney Freight line.

The project grew substantially based on budget and design. With some stations starting with initial power upgrades or services relocations, and ending with complete station re-builds.

The contracted design documents were supplied by the electrical consultants as a design brief. These brief documents were identified as being for construction; however, there was no reference to railway standards or the inclusion of a technical specification. BC was required to call on their vast knowledge and experience of rail projects and turn this brief into a completed project. This was done through countless shop drawings, reviews and meeting with Railcorp and other Authorities. At the project outset we were provided with only 25 original contracted drawings. By the end of the project, BC had provided over 300 drawings and associated advice to the electrical consultant for the upgrade.
